I am a native of Glenageary in south Dublin. I studied at St. Conleth’s College, before reading Greek and Roman Civilization, History and Philosophy at University College, Dublin. I read theology and trained for the priesthood at Holy Cross College, Clonliffe, and was ordained in 1985. I served in a number of parishes and had the opportunity of following post- graduate studies at the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology in Rome. I later taught at a number of universities in Rome.
Since childhood I have love books and am fortunate to have been able to write and edit fifteen books over the past twenty years. My next book will be a 100 objects, places and people who have shaped our civilization. I am also writing a duel biography of Pope Leo X- the Golden Pope and his cousin, Clement VII- the Most Unfortunate Pope. Leo was the son of Lorenzo the Magnificent and the patron of Michaelangelo and Raphael. Clement, whose father had been assassinated during Easter Sunday Mass in the Cathedral of Florence, was taken captive by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. The Medici cousins are a fascinating source of scandal, intrigue, murder and duplicity.
